Who We Are

The Hosanna Community Church's goal is to reach out and meet the needs of the people. We believe that people don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care! So we want to be out in the community of Poolesville, MD and the surrounding areas showing people we care by showing them the love of Christ and showing them how much we care about their spiritual and physical needs.
Our mission is to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ by teaching sound biblical principles on how to live a Christ filled life in practical and relevant ways. At Hosanna Community Church we want to teach people how to apply the principles of the bible to their everyday lives in order to make positive change come about. We worship in a multi-cultural environment because we believe that in heaven all races and cultures will worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, together.

Our Pastor

Howard C. Copeland III, better known to family and friends as Chuck, gave his life to Christ in 1991. He received the call on his heart from God to preach the Gospel in 1992. He did not formally accept the call until 1993. He was ordained in 1994 by the Bibleway Organization and the International Conference of Community Churches. Chuck began his ministry as assistant and youth pastor at Seneca Community Church in Darnestown, Maryland and served the ministry from 1996 to 2003.

In 2003, a new tug on his heart led him to plant a new church ministry.  After much prayer and consult, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Hosanna Worship Center was formed in 2003. From 2003 to 2007, the ministry grew but following several life altering events, Hosanna Worship Center was disbanded in 2007. In July of 2009, Chuck married his life partner and best friend, Kimberly A. Copeland. They are parents to 4 children collectively; Denaja, Will, Satori, and Paris. They are also the proud grandparents of 4 (3 boys and a girl). From 2009 until 2013, Chuck attended and served in ministry at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Poolesville, Maryland under the pastorate of Senior Pastor, Rev. C. Glenn Taylor.

Chuck continued to hear from the Lord regarding Hosanna Worship Center and in August of 2013, as a testament to God's grace and mercy, Hosanna Worship Center was rebirthed!  The vision the Lord gave Pastor Chuck regarding the ministry did not change. Hosanna Worship Center was created to provide an atmosphere of LOVE and acceptance; a relaxed environment where people of ALL RACES AND BACKGROUNDS can come freely to learn about Jesus; an atmosphere where the teaching comes directly from the scriptures, in such a way that everyone can understand, and apply it to their lives for positive change!

Pastor Chuck doesn’t consider Hosanna Worship Center as a perfect church but as a church striving for excellence. While leading Hosanna Worship Center in the strive for excellence, Chuck understood he needed education and understanding of the Word of God. In September 2016 he enrolled in the Christian Heart Bible College and Seminary and graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelors of Arts in Theology.

In 2020, after 2 years of Hosanna Worship Center being located in the heart of Poolesville, Maryland, God put it on Chuck's heart to revisit the purpose and mission of the church.

The name "Hosanna Worship Center" no longer fit the vision and commitment of ministry. Pastor Chuck prayed, and the change was confirmed. We are n now known as: Hosanna Community Church.

Since Hosanna Community Church has a growing congregation in the Ag-Reserve, we strive to be one of the most impactful, “boots on the ground” ministries in our area.  The Hosanna Community Church mission is, meeting the needs of people with love.

“We are here to serve the Ag-Reserve.”
Pastor Chuck Copeland
